Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce this Special Issue entitled “New insights into the Health of Male Cardiac Patients”. We invite authors to share their latest research results and knowledge in relation to the epidemiology and management of cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors (smoking, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes, excessive body mass, low physical activity), as well as the impact of cardiovascular disease on quality of life. The development and progression of cardiovascular diseases triggers the development of other comorbidities that share the same pathophysiology and risk factors. Of particular interest is the link between cardiovascular disease and hormonal changes, as lower testosterone levels can lead to the development of hypogonadism. In turn, erectile dysfunction is prevalent in cardiac patients and can serve as an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. We encourage authors to focus on the practical application of recent advances in knowledge that increase awareness of health problems in male cardiac patients and improve the quality of care.
