Dear colleagues,


The educational context is, together with the family, one of the most influential spaces in the development of children, adolescents and young people. The learning and socialization that take place in educational centers are essential processes in the formation of an adult adjusted to society in a personal, relational and formative way. But it is also a context in which incipient or consolidated mental health problems or psychosocial maladjustment can appear. Mental health risks are numerous and greatly affect the adjustment of children and young men. The development and chronification of psychological disorders (anxiety, depression, psychopathology, addiction, impulse control, eating disorders, etc.), relational difficulties (bullying, cyberbullying, violence, problematic use of the Internet, etc.) or academic problems (learning difficulties, school refusal, absenteeism, dropout, etc.) are all issues of special relevance. In this regard, the diagnosis and prevention of mental health pathologies as well as intervention in the face of these problems within the educational context (primary, secondary and higher education centers) are worthy areas of focus for research and analysis.


Following the thematic lines of the Journal, both qualitative and quantitative studies concerning one or several aspects of these problems are welcome for this monograph. Papers whose design is longitudinal, present a cross-cultural perspective or address systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses are of particular interest for this Special Issue. Different perspectives and theoretical corpuses are welcome from a variety of health and social sciences, such as Psychology, Education, Anthropology and Sociology.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Original articles, case reports or comprehensive reviews are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. JOMH is an international peer-reviewed open access journal published by MRE Press. As of January 2021, JOMH will change to a bimonthly journal. Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript.The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is $1200. We normally offer a discount greater than 30% to all contributors invited by the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editor (GE) and Editorial board member. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English.
